We Are Not Alone in This

Isaiah 41:10

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Dealing with the struggles of life—such as overcoming sin, caring for family, facing illnesses or job stress—can be overwhelming. Humanity has a track record of despair, pain, loss and injustice. This is not what God wants for His children. God is a loving and caring Father who wants His children to turn to Him so He can save them and be their God (Jeremiah 7:23).

Today’s scripture is one of the most uplifting and inspiring verses in the entire Bible, jam-packed with promises, assurances and a description of how God lovingly views humanity. Let’s break it down:

1. “Fear not, … be not dismayed.” We should not live in worry, because we have faith in God’s power (Matthew 10:29-31).

2. “I am with you; … I am your God.” We are never alone. The God of the universe knows us individually and is involved in our lives.

3. “I will strengthen you, … help you, … uphold you with My righteous right hand.” God will take care of us in exactly the way we need. He is watching over us and watching out for us.

Anything that seems too hard for God (such as helping us to overcome a habitual sin or move on from a traumatic event) isn’t. He tells us in Jeremiah 32:27: “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?”
