No One Can Come to Me Unless the Father Draws Him

John 6:44

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

Listen to the "Verse by Verse" episode covering this scripture.

Jesus Christ explained to a group of His countrymen why some people could come to Him and understand His message and others could not. Understanding God’s truth requires a miracle for a human to begin to see in the spiritual dimension.

God’s plan includes opening the eyes of people at different times, each in his or her own order. He desires for all to repent and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9), but He does not call all to understand at the same time.

John 6:65 reiterates this point: “And He said, ‘Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.’”
